Dawn services were held at Wynnum RSL, and at Manly, followed by marches through Manly and later Wynnum.  These photos are from the Wynnum march that commenced in Cedar Street, and travelled along Bay Tce, then Bride Street to the car park at the Wynnum RSL where the wreath laying service was held.

Visit Beadoire

I met yesterday with the wonderfully talented Maureen Nugent of Beadoire in Bay Tce, Wynnum.  She has some awesome things in her store.

Some garments in the window attracted my attention, and I came out with a fabulous pink bag carrying my purchases after a long chat with her about her glass beading.

Did you know Maureen won a major award for her work back in 2008??  (Ask her to show it to you when you visit the store).

I found this video on You Tube - you can see there are many more items in this amazing place now....

Orchid Show

I had driven past the venue for the Orchid Show several times during the past few weeks and noted the sign out the front, and slipped a note into my diary for me to go.  As it turned out, I was able to attend though only for a short time.

It was impressive!!!  Local orchid growers competed in a number of categories and the displays were wonderful.  Thank you to the committee for allowing me to take some photographs.

The Show is one of the two shows put on each year by the Eastern District Orchid Society, Inc.   If you missed this one, add September 29th and 30th to your calendar, as their next show will be on that weekend at the Bayside Uniting Church Hall, 420 Wondall Road Manly West.
